Ne znam zasto, ali odmah sam se sjetio tebe: Witch Hunting In 17th Century England, people developed an astonishing method of discovering whether a person was a witch or not. Anyone suspected of being a witch - on the basis of gossip, rumor, or direct accusation - was subjected to various forms of extreme scrutiny (frequently involving torture) in an effort to discover any of the signs that were generally believed to identify a witch. They were then physically and mentally abused in an effort to force a confession. If these procedures failed to produce the desired result, there was a final test that could be performed. The suspect would be securely tied up and then dropped into deep water. If they floated and survived, they were deemed to be guilty and subsequently drowned, hung, or burnt at the stake. If they sank and drowned immediately, they were proved to be innocent. Obviously, alongside those who may have been guilty, many completely innocent people suffered and died as a result of these methods. Today, the type of men who conducted these witch-hunts are no longer allowed to torture people physically or have them burnt at the stake. Instead, they join discernment ministries. Their methods are unsurprisingly similar. * They are motivated by self-righteousness and pride. * They always have to be right. * They make a special target of anyone who dares to challenge them. * They frequently make judgments based on gossip, rumor and slander. * They declare a suspect to be guilty, and then set out to find evidence to support their judgment. * They can twist the facts until even the most innocent of things is made to look bad. * If they can't find any evidence, then they will convict on the basis of suspicion alone. * They will employ slander, lies, and false accusations to get the result they want. * They always have to be right. * They try to put their victims in a "lose-lose" situation so they are condemned no matter what they do. * They invent the "tests" themselves, so they will always get the results they want. * They are blind to their own sin and believe they are serving God. * They always have to be right. -- Homepage: http://www.danijel.org/ Business: http://www.ouroboros.hr/ |
