Ovo je namjerna podvala, naime, fragmentacijom se stvara lazni dojam
da neke periferne religije imaju velik broj clanova, a neke velike da
su sporedne. Primjerice, Tibetanski buddhizam obuhvaca stotinjak
sekti, i ako svaku sektu brojis pojedinacno, dobit ces da ima vise
poklonika Sai Babe i Hare Krishni nego buddhista ne Tibetu. Ali, ako
radis statistiku za Vajrayana ili Mahayana buddhizam, dobit ces
ogromne brojke. Isto vazi za Shaivite, Vaisnave i Shakte unutar
hinduizma, kojih, zajedno s nekim drugim sektama, ima tri cetvrt
milijarde. Takodjer, ako brojis sve formalne katolike (gdje KC cak i
mene broji kao svog clana, zato sto su me krstili kao bebu), kako bi
povecao broj katolika, a unutar hinduizma njihove ekvivalente
franjevaca, jezuita i dominikanaca brojis svakog kao svoju religiju,
naravno da ces dobiti da je katolicanstvo vecinska religija. Ali,
cinjenica je da je katolicanstvo u totalnoj krizi i da ga nestaje u
Europi, i da mu je jedina tocka rasta u Africi. Broj formalnih clanova
ne znaci nista, buduci da "katolicke" zemlje nisu u stanju izglasati
ni zakon protiv abortusa, sto govori o tome koliko se ljudi drze
formalnog vjerovanja. Za sve prakticne svrhe, katolicanstvo je mrtva
crkva.
